First time in the braid chair 🙋🏾‍♀️✨
I’ve always been hesitant about getting my hair professionally braided — worried about not knowing what to ask for, the horror stories of scams, and of course… protecting my edges.

But I had such a great first experience at Sogho Express Braiding here in Brooklyn. 🙌🏾 I’m so happy with how it turned out — and now I’m officially a believer. 🧡

I live in Brooklyn. I know what a $40 rush ticket and a happy hour can do for the soul.
I’ve learned to create beauty and consistency in chaos...on my terms.

I’ve made magic on a budget. Turned grief into content. Turned discipline into softness.
I don’t need to “keep up.” I just need to stay grounded.

This city is expensive, yes. But so is living a life that doesn’t feel like yours. I’m not falling for the lie that everything has to be all or nothing.

I saw Purpose and it made me reflect on what we pass down, and what we choose to carry. Directed by the legendary Phylicia Rashad, this is one of the most honest family dramas I’ve seen on stage.
